The Opening Ceremony of BK.AI

Hanoi University of Science and Technology officially launched the “International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence” today, with the goal of developing high-level research and training in key technology fields, meeting the country’s socio-economic development needs.
 
The center has been established under the model of a mixed international research center which is jointly invested in and run by HUST and Naver Group from the Republic of Korea.  Assoc. Prof. Ta Hai Tung, Dean of School of Information and Communication Technology under HUST said that in the long term, the AI Centre will serve as the place to connect domestic and international AI operators to deploy basic research and to create “make in Vietnam” core technologies. The center will also focus on promoting AI applications in various industries and areas to accelerate digital transformation and boost the 4.0 industrial revolution in Vietnam, Assoc. Prof. Tung noted.
 
Prof. Ho Tu Bao, one of the most prestigious Vietnamese scientists in the field of AI and machine learning, was appointed as the science director of the AI Centre. Prof. Bao shared that the digital environment is creating an invaluable opportunity for the country to develop which requires the establishment of excellent scientific centers to master important technologies, and HUST – Naver AI Centre is such a hub.

The opening ceremony of the Center took place under the witness of Deputy Minister of Education and Training – Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology – Bui The Duy, Rector of Hanoi University of Science and Technology – Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, CEO of NAVER Group – Mr. Choi InHyuk and many representatives of the leading training and research institutions in the country in the field of AI, such as Hanoi National University, Institute of Welding Vietnam Forestry of Science and Technology, VinAI, VinBDI, Vin University, FPT Smart Cloud…

Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, the President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, affirmed: “The establishment of the International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence strongly demonstrates the determination of Hanoi University of Science and Technology in developing high-level research and training in key technology fields, meeting the country’s socio-economic development needs.”.

Attending the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation and linkage between the University and the Enterprise: “This cooperation is not only at the University or School level, but also reaching the university level. international.”
