Introduction

Recent advancements in AI are bringing about significant changes and reshaping various aspects of the socio-economic landscape. At the forefront of this progress is a powerful machine learning approach known as foundational models. These models have revolutionized fields such as natural language processing, computer vision, speech processing, and bioinformatics, and they have had significant impacts on various domains such as education, healthcare, medicine, and materials.
Foundation models are trained on massive unlabeled data and then can be applied to different specific tasks with minimal fine-tuning. We have witnessed the initial glimpses of the immense potential of foundation models in domains such as imagery and language. Early pioneers, such as GPT-3, BERT, and DALL-E 2, have showcased the incredible possibilities of foundation models.
This laboratory aims to become a pioneering research laboratory on foundational models in the country and region. We aim to become a prestigious address for businesses in training, research, development, and transfer of technologies related to foundation models. Our goal is to build foundation models specifically for Vietnam-specific data, fine-tune the foundation models and build applications for Vietnam-specific fields such as law, finance, healthcare, and education.
